National Salute !

Happy Independence Day Frnds,

I salute for our co brothers and sisters (army frnds) and enter into my post. Here i came to tell about a short history of out “Tricolor Flag” .Im proud to share my small thing i know about our flag. Every Flag defines about free nation .Our tricolor flag is commonly known as Tiranga defines the tricolor Saffron ,white ,green .Our flag was designed by Pingali Venkayya from Machilipatnam(1916).

Let us go with our Flag history..

Our First flag was hoisted on August 7,1906 in Kolkata (Bagan Square) .Flag has the color of red,yellow,green.

Second flag was hoisted in 1907 in Paris by Madame Cama .Flag holds tricolor orange,yellow, green with sun and moon at bottom(green) with a hindi writeup.

Third flag was hoisted in 1917 during the Home rule Movement by Dr.Annie Besant and Lokmanya Tilak.Flag contains red(5) and green(4) stripes and seven stars positioned like saptarishi structure .The pole end contain white crescent and star in one cornerand top end has Union Jack.

Fourth flag was done in 1921(VijayaWada) by an youth and he took the flag to Gandhiji .Flag contains two colors red and green specifying to two communities with white strip specifying other communities.The Spinning wheel represented the progress of Nation.

Fifth flag was hoisted adopted in 1931.This flag is just similar to now “tricolor” flag with (top)saffron,white and green and Gandhiji’s spinning wheel at center .

The Final flag we have is our tricolor flag with Dharma Charkha in place of the spinning wheel as the emblem on the flag.Tiranga was hoisted on July 22, 1947 in free India. The colours and their significance remained the same.As we all know Flag contains

  • Saffron – speaks about courage and sacrifice
  • White – speaks peace and truth
  • Green – Fertility
  • DharmaChakra– wheel of the law
  • 24 spokes in wheel– 24hrs in a day
  • blue spokes– Ocean and Sky

Its unfair to conclude without telling Quote from a freedom fighter .I like MahaKavi SubramaNiya Bharathiyar . Not only his words spoked about freedom but his breathe spoked the freedom.One of his poem i woul like to share.

விடுதலை! விடுதலை! விடுதலை!
பறைய ருக்கும் இங்கு தீயர்
புலைய ருக்கும் விடுதலை
பரவ ரோடு குறவருக்கும்
மறவ ருக்கும் விடுதலை!
திறமை கொண்டதீமை யற்ற
தொழில் புரங்ந்து யாவரும்
தேர்ந்த கல்வி ஞானம் எய்தி
வாழ்வம் இந்த நாட்டிலே.

இப்பாடலுடன் நம் விடுதலை அடைத்தோம் என்பதை மார் நிமிர்த்தி பெருமிதத்துடன் சொல்கிறேன்.இனிய சுதந்திரதின நல்வாழ்த்துகள் நண்பர்களே !

    Very interesting to know about the many designs and colors of our National flag.

    • நம் கொடிக்கே இப்படி ஒரு சரித்திரம் என்றால் நம் ஒவ்வொரு சின்னங்களுக்கும் உள்ள சரித்திரம் நம்மை பிரமிக்க வைப்பது உறுதி…மொதோ அத தெரிஞ்சுக்கணும் …படிக்க ஆரம்பிக்கணும் mam !
